Accessibility
A site that works for everyone.
Last reviewed October 12, 2026
We want everyone who visits Lily & Ember to be able to read, move around, and reach out comfortably, whether you use a mouse, a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone, or a magnifier. We're working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What we've done
- Structure. Pages use headings in order, clear landmarks, and links and buttons with descriptive names, and the page language is set so screen readers pronounce things correctly.
- Keyboard. Everything you can click can also be reached with the Tab key. Focus is clearly outlined, and a "Skip to main content" link appears first on every page.
- Color and text. We checked our main text and background colors against the WCAG minimum contrast of 4.5 to 1. Layouts adjust to small screens and to larger text sizes without losing content.
- Images. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions. Purely decorative touches are hidden from screen readers so they don't get in the way.
- Motion. Our animations are gentle. If your device is set to reduce motion, we show the finished picture instead of animating it.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and messages are written in plain language.
How we check
We review our pages with automated accessibility testing, by moving through each page using only a keyboard, and by checking colors and layouts at different screen sizes. We repeat these checks whenever the site changes.
What we're still improving
- The Case Studies page includes illustrated visuals that change as you scroll. They either decorate the page or repeat what the text already says, but we're still refining how screen readers announce them.
- In a few places, text sits over a photograph. We add a soft overlay to keep it readable, but contrast can vary with your screen and settings.
Tell us what you run into
If something on this site is hard to use, or you'd like information in a different format, we want to know. Write to hello@lilyandember.com with the page and what happened, and we'll reply within five business days with a fix or another way to get what you need.
Our commitment
Accessibility is part of how we build, not something added at the end. As Lily & Ember grows, we'll keep testing and improving so the site stays welcoming to the people it's for.
